Cremation Funeral Service

Can you be cremated without a service? Yes, you can be cremated without a service.

In the funeral industry we call that a direct cremation. Basically, it means that a funeral home or a cremation funeral society, will pick the body, at whatever location the remains are at and take the deceased to the crematory for the cremation process.

After the cremation has taken place the ashes also known as cremated remains or cremains are given back to the person who has been designated.

After the family receives the ashes, they can either have the cremains scattered or interred within a cemetery. Usually, most families will have the cremated remains placed within a Columbarium Niche within a cemetery. That is a small niche opening within a community mausoleum.

Mausoleum Niches can be as ornate or as simple as one would like to select to place the cremains of their loved ones.

Columbarium Niches can have either a glass front or marble front. Niches that have glass fronts are where you are able to see the urns or mementos that have been placed inside, which were special to your family member or loved one.

Mausoleum Niches
that are of a marble front usually will have the name of the deceased inscribed on the front of the niche front.
