Burial Plots For Veterans

Burial plots for veterans are in one of two places, either in a national cemetery or in a public/private cemetery.

For those of you wish to be buried in a National Cemetery like Riverside National, it is on a first come first served basis. Which means you can not reserve your burial space in advance of need.

Your spouse can be buried with you as long as it is set up when your death occurs. It is what we call a double interment grave plot. The first person goes into the lower depth, making room for the second person to be placed directly on top.

Also when a double interment grave plot is setup, a burial vault, is usually required for the lower burial. The burial vault will give support for the lower burial.

Furthermore when you set up the grave this way you are helping to conserve valuable land space. Check with your National Cemetery to see if they allow this in your National Cemetery for Veterans.
